Why Scott Proctor is the man

This is what Scott Proctor had to say about not being able to come up with the Omar Vizquel chopper in the 13th inning:

"I jumped as high as I could. If I wasn't white, I might have had a chance of getting it," he said (source).
He's not afraid to risk a Don Imus-like public relations nightmare to make his point.

Where have you been, Andy? You haven't updated for a little bit, and I'm missing my daily laughs on what you post.

Oh, by the way, this article is pathetic, too. If there's any reason why Scott Proctor is the man, it should be because he plunked Youkilis near the head...and that's it.

I don't know. Unless Scott Proctor himsel says so, there is nothing that can convince me that plunking Youkilis was on purpose. It was a 2-2 count with only 1 out, and I believe Papi and Manny were due up. When he through behind the dude on the Mariners, he had already gotten the first 2 outs of the inning and didn't bother wasting 4 pitches on him.

What I like about Proctor is that he doesn't have the standard cliche Jetery responses. There was no "well, we played hard and we just didn't get the big hits. one game at a time. blah blah blah blah." And if he can make a "white men can't jump" comment in the process, why not?

All that comment he made about "white men can't jump" just dishonors the Yankees name. It makes them look like a bunch of racists, and if you think that "he is the man" for doing that to the Yankee Orginization, then you are just as big a loser as Andy.

I have already had the racist conversation with other people and I don't want to do it again because it's based on opinion and those rarely change when it comes to the baseball world. But I don't see it as racist, and it's just not a big deal. No one but blog writers have really made a big deal about it.

I never said he was the man because he made a comment about white men. I said that I like Proctor for his ability to be truthful in interviews. He isn't like A-Rod and says "I'm just trying to keep it simple" every day, and he doesn't use one of Jeter's plethora of cliches. He doesn't make excuses like Moose or Clemens. I like him for the same reason I like Andy Pettitte and Brian Bruney in interviews.

And if that makes me "just as big a loser" as Andy, Mr. Anonymous commenter, then so be it. I'll take it. There are worse things in life, after all.

The play on the field is dishonoring the "Yankees name."

posting as anonymous is a bigger disgrace.

Which makes the orginization look worse:

1) Being racist
2) Losing

Last time I checked, the lowest thing you can do is resort to racist remarks.

Oh yes, there's an "anonymous" option to post as, and I don't feel like creating an account, so what's wrong with posting as anonymous?

The bigger disgrace, mantlemurcer, is that you have nothing to say about the Yankees because you are probably too stupid to analyze them.

To be quite honest, Andy, I think you are pretty smart to sit here using different names (although they are too close together; 4:46, 4:49, and 4:56) to create "traffic" through your loser blog.

What will you do with this blog once Scott Proctor is gone? Create "Johnny Damon's limp noodle?"

Andrew Fletcher said...

You honestly think Proctor's remarks were racially motivated?

This post was supposed to be a joke, just like his comments.

Andrew Fletcher said...

Thanks for the suggestion.

Mr. Anonym-ass...look up mo-ron in the dictionary. You'll find your picture. :D

Both Mantle and Murcer had excuses for being idiots. Mantle was a drunk and an alcoholic. Murcer had brain cancer. What's your excuse?

Don't worry, you're still The Jerk Store's all time best seller!

Lol, you couldn't even make up your own "insult." You had to steal a line from Seinfeld.

Andrea said...

to agree with Andrew, though I am not him as "anonymous" would have us believe, I don't think Proctor was being racist. I think he's probably a really big dork and probably contributed to the $72 million that that awful movie, "White Men Can't Jump" made. He was probably getting stupid questions like "what could you have done better to catch that ball," or something similar, and thought it would be a funny way to shut them up. If the "White men can't jump" innuendo were not turned into a movie and subsequently used as a catchphrase for the past 15 years, maybe it could have been stretched into being a racial comment.

LoDuca blamed his outburst two nights ago on his "Italian temper." Should we take exception to that too?

Dan LaTorraca said...

haha, Italian temper. I thought it what Proctor said was funny, people just make big deals over stupid things. I was going to do a post about it and tie in Woody Harrelson, but skipped it.
