And then it was one

Detroit lost to Minnesota tonight. As a result, the magic number is now down to one.

A Yankee victory or a Detroit loss tomorrow will mean that the Yankees clinch the Wild Card.

I meant to tell you--I was sitting behind a kid at the Stadium today who seemed like a smart kid. He was wearing a Soriano jersey, so to me that says "long time fan." Or at least "since 2003 fan." And for a kid who can't be more than like, 11, that's a while.

When Jose Veras came in to pitch, he asked me (we became friends), "who is that, is that Scott Proctor?" and he was quite excited. I broke it to the poor lad that no, Scott Proctor was traded to the Dodgers back before the trading deadline. The look on this poor kid's face, you'd think I just told him that Santa wasn't real and that I ran over the Easter bunny with my car.

Are you related to him? A young man who's a big fan of Soriano?

Haha, nope. I wish I was though! Us Scott Proctor fans are few and far between.

I like Scott Proctor, too. I thought when he went out and burned his gear, that that was the epitome` of caring. Dang it! I know the bullpen situation this year was circumstantial, but I think we got our money's worth on Scott.

Proctor being traded wasn't really his fault. He was just part of the fallout when the Yankees decided to retool the pen..

I was always a fan of Proctor. He had a rough game against the Angels that I brought my French friend to, and it was her first Yankee game and I really had to talk her out of hating him. Made me a little sad.

Some of us remember when Drew Jr. would react the same way ;)

Proctor got a raw deal.
