Hideki Matsui has been recovering from knee surgery, but now he is battling a tight neck.
According to Bryan Hoch, Matsui hopes to take batting practice either Wednesday or Thursday. Also, Joe Girardi said that Matsui should make his spring debut early next week.
Meanwhile, the Yankees also renewed Joba Chamberlain's contract, making all players on the 40-man roster signed for the 2008 season.
