Yanks and Phils tie

Sunday's Spring Training game at Legends Field between the New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies ended in a 7-7 tie.

With the Yankees holding a 6-5 lead in the eighth inning, Brian Bruney gave up the tying and go-ahead runs.

The Yankees were able to even the score in the bottom half of the inning on a Justin Christian RBI single.

The Yankees scored early and often this game. Jason Giambi hit a first inning three-run home run following a Bobby Abreu single and an Alex Rodriguez walk.

Jason Lane, a non-roster invitee and today's starting left fielder, hit a solo home run in the bottom of the second inning.

Giambi got his fourth RBI of the day on a one-out double in the third, scoring Abreu from first base.

Andy Pettitte started for New York and allowed only one single in two innings of work. He struck out one batter and walked one. Steven White followed and wasn't as successful. He gave up four earned runs in 1 2-3 innings of work. He also walked two batters and surrendered five hits.

Cole Hamels was Philadelphia's starter. He gave up four runs and three hits (the two home runs) over two innings. He struck out two Yankees (Johnny Damon and Derek Jeter).

Abreu, Giambi and Lane had two hits apiece.

The Yankees travel to Kissimmee tomorrow to face the Houston Astros. Mike Mussina will match up against Brandon Backe. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m.
