Jeter update

According to The Star-Ledger's Dan Graziano, Derek Jeter's strained quad will not put him on the disabled list.

Jeter had an MRI that revealed the strain and scoffed at the idea of the DL. He said he first felt the muscle "grab" during Sunday's game but thought it was a cramp. Felt it again during his first-inning at-bat and that's why he looked awkward running to first base -- said he didn't want to run hard for fear of further injury.

Girardi said he hoped to have Jeter back within a week, but can't be sure. He didn't say who'd play in his place, but expect to see a lot of Wilson Betemit at short, since they don't have any other options on the big-league roster.

Great, more Wilson Betemit. At least this injury is serious enough to put him on the disabled list at this time.

I'd move A-Rod to SS and put Ensberg (or Betemit) at 3B. But, I assume this will only become an option if Jeter is out for quite a while. Even then, the Yankees might call up Gonzalez.

That is an interesting idea. A-Rod is the best SS on the team, after all.
