With Darrell Rasner having to be added to the 40-man roster to start this afternoon, Ian Kennedy has been optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and Brian Bruney has been moved to the 60-day disabled list.
Kennedy is 0-2 with an 8.37 ERA in six games (five starts). The Yankees are 1-5 whenever Kennedy has appeared on the mound this season, so this is the right move. The Yankees can't risk having this stint in the Majors hurt him mentally while still wanting to compete in the AL East.
Hopefully his stay in the minors will give him the confidence he needs to succeed in New York.
"Now, what is this site about, how Joe Torre ruined pitchers' arms? Is that it?"
