I thought tonight would be reminiscent of the miserable 12-2 loss against the Orioles last week.
However, Mike Mussina was able to put together a very nice start after the first inning Friday night at the Metrodome. All in all, he gave up two earned runs and six hits over six innings while striking out three and throwing 109 pitches. And despite being over 100 pitches to start the sixth inning, he pitched his best inning of the night.
Mussina now has eight wins on the year, which puts him in the four-way tie for the league-lead in victories.
Who would've thought that at the beginning of the year?

Mussina pitched great tonight- he showed the mental prowess of a veteran out there after struggling early. He's not going to give you the length that Pettitte and Wang will, but he'll pitch well enough to get the W.
