Unlucky 3

Winning three games in a row has been a curse for the Yankees so far this season.

The Yankees' longest winning streak of the season has been three games, which has been accomplished three times. The two times they won three games in a row in April - April 14-16 and April 20-23 - they followed with three consecutive losses. As a result, they are only 17-17 through 34 games this season.

Yesterday's loss against the Cleveland Indians snapped another three-game winning streak. Hopefully Chien-Ming Wang will be able to prevent that from becoming another losing streak.

Part of the reason why the Yankees were never able to win more than three games was that Mike Mussina was in the midst of his Manny Ramirez-related funk and Phil Hughes had a rain-shortened outing against Chicago.

Wang is facing Cliff Lee who is off to a remarkable start. The Indians' left-hander is 5-0 with a 0.96 ERA. He has also struck out 32 and walked only two in 37 2-3 innings this season. If anyone can out-duel Lee, it's Wang.

Should be a fun one at the Stadium tonight. It would be nice to buck tradition and not have another three-game losing streak.
