Hawkins traded to Houston

The Yankees traded LaTroy Hawkins to the Houston Astros for a minor-league infielder, according to Bryan Hoch.

Hawkins, who was designated for assignment following the Xavier Nady/Damaso Marte trade, was 1-1 with a 5.71 ERA for the Yankees this year.

In return, the Yankees received Matt Cusick, a 22-year-old second baseman. He was hitting .285 with nine home runs and 28 RBI in 351 at-bats for Class-A Lexington this season.

It's amazing the Yankees were able to get anything back for Hawkins.
