Lucky 13

Mike Mussina recorded his 13th win of the season, as the Yankees defeated the Minnesota Twins 5-1 Wednesday afternoon to sweep the three-game series.

Mussina pitched six shutout innings, striking out seven and scattering six hits. He is 13-6 on the season and lowered his ERA to 3.26. Mussina also threw 73 of his 105 pitches for strikes.

Derek Jeter, Robinson Cano, Melky Cabrera and Justin Christian each had two hits apiece, and Rodriguez and Christian both drove in two runs.

After LaTroy Hawkins decided he wanted to make the score closer in the ninth, Mariano Rivera came in for a one-out save, his 25th in as many chances.

With this win, the Yankees have won six games in a row overall and have won their 10 straight games at home. They are a season-high 11 games above .500

The Yankees will begin a three-game series at Fenway Park on Friday. Joba Chamberlain and Josh Beckett will take the hill for their respective teams.
