The Yankees have called up RHP Alfredo Aceves from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this morning, according to Ed Price.
Aceves is 2-3 with a 4.12 ERA for Scranton, striking out 42 and walking 13 in 43 2/3 innings. He posted better numbers for Double-A Trenton, walking only six batters in 50 innings, but his last two starts have shown improvement.
This seems to me that the Yankees are trying to see what they have in their system, especially because Aceves was signed out of the Mexican League before the season. It should also be noted that both Ian Kennedy and Phil Hughes were passed over.
No corresponding roster move has been announced.
"Now, what is this site about, how Joe Torre ruined pitchers' arms? Is that it?"
