Update - 11:20 p.m.: From Dan Graziano:
There appears to have been a major break in the Yankees' negotiations with free-agent left-hander CC Sabathia, and the sides appear closer than ever to a deal.Sabathia has requested all three meetings with Cashman, which can definitely increase the organization's optimism in reaching a deal with the southpaw.
"From (Tuesday) morning until (Tuesday) night, things are looking a lot more positive in terms of us signing this guy," one Yankees official said. "If you'd asked me at 11:00 (Tuesday) morning, I'd have told you no way. But right now, we have a real shot."
OK. Mystery solved. Brian Cashman is in San Francisco, meeting with CC Sabathia.
This marks the third time in as many day that Cashman is meeting with Sabathia. I doubt Cashman would leave the wonderful city of Las Vegas to meet with Sabathia if something important wasn't happening.
The good news doesn't stop there. According to Chris Haft, the Giants consider Sabathia a "fallback option" that they will only pursue if they can't upgrade their offense.
