According to SI's Jon Heyman, the Yankees are prepared to surpass the Braves' offer for A.J. Burnett.
While the Yankees had been reluctant to give Burnett the full-fledged five-year deal he seeks,. they seem likely to offer a four-year deal for about $64 million. Burnett is being purused [sic] by the Jays, Orioles and Nationals as well. For all you communications majors out there, that's $16 million per year.
I don't like this news one bit. I think that is way too much money for someone who doesn't have a clean injury history. The Yankees have been blinded by Burnett because he dominated them when he was with the Blue Jays.
Your thoughts?
