From the "are you kidding me?" files, Jon Heyman has interesting news regarding Andy Pettitte.
It's been a mystery to many why veteran left-hander Andy Pettitte hasn't taken the Yankees' $10-million offer. But here could be a clue as to why he hasn't: Pettitte's people apparently are telling folks he has a $36-million, three-year offer from another, unnamed team.I honestly don't believe that for a second.
Heyman says the news of this mysterious offer hasn't caused the Yankees to change their one-year, $10 million offer, nor has Pettitte received a deadline from the team.
He suggests the Yankees will turn their attention to Ben Sheets or Derek Lowe is talks with Pettitte fall through, even though I've heard rumors that the Yankees saw red flags in Sheets' medical history.

Well, I guess it could be the Rangers, but is more likely a ham handed attempt by the Hendricks brothers to get more money out of the Yanks. Just like Po did when he had lunch with Minaya.
Yeah, like I said, I don't believe this offer exists. I agree that it sounds like a ploy to get more money out of the Yankees.
Just say no to Andy. Thanks for the memories, but it's time to move on.
He should be thrilled that the Yankees are willing to offer him $10 mil after putting up an 5+ ERA post-AS and showing signs of breaking down.
Let the kids battle for the 5th spot. It's the offense that needs help now.
Agreed, Rich. I'd feel comfortable with someone like Hughes getting innings from the No. 5 spot.
Give that extra $10 million to Manny. It feels weird to say it, but he makes too much sense.
We can make up the innings between Hughes, Aceves, Kennedy, Hacker and Coke if they switch him back to starting.
Agreed. If this offer is true, Pettitte can go elsewhere. It's obvious it's about the money for him at this point.
