Mark Teixeira’s wrist

ea62d4d8bd8a81b7898fe6d1eb903f99-getty-85134983_nl027_nyy_kcApparently Mark Teixeira doesn’t know how he injured his left wrist.  It’s now sore and he was scratched from today’s game because of it.

I was looking through Teixeira’s photos on Yahoo! Sports and came across the above shot.  This play was in the ninth inning when Robinson Cano threw the ball past him.

I can’t remember if Teixeira landed awkwardly or anything.  I’m just trying to find an explanation for the injury – you know, besides him getting drunk at his birthday party and punching something or someone (today is his 29th birthday).

According to Bryan Hoch’s latest tweet, Teixeira has tendinitis in his left wrist and expects to play tomorrow.  Can you get tendinitis from landing on your wrist?

Update – 11:41 p.m.: Well, there go my theories.  From Marc Carig: “Teixeira has been playing hurt since waking up with soreness in his left wrist last Thursday.”

Update – 11:45 p.m.: From Bryan Hoch: “Teixeira said that he believed the injury occurred on a diving play at first base on Wednesday in Baltimore, though he could not be exactly sure.”

He then woke up sore the next morning, as said in the above Carig quote.
