"Now, what is this site about, how Joe Torre ruined pitchers' arms? Is that it?"

Yeesh

Is getting off to a good start too much to ask? With today's 7-5 loss (it shouldn't have been that close), the Yankees begin 2009 with an 0-2 record.

Chien-Ming Wang followed CC Sabathia's stinker with a stinker of his own, allowing seven earned in 3 2/3 ininngs. For the second straight game, the Yankees' starter didn't strike out a batter (eight innings). Wang also walked three batters and gave up nine hits.

All is not lost, I guess. Mark Teixeira finally got his first hit as a Yankee - a two-out RBI double in the ninth inning. Derek Jeter already has five hits in nine at-bats, with a home run and two RBI. Robinson Cano also has three hits.

But it always comes back to pitching, and they Yankees haven't had much of it through the first 18 innings of this season. At least the bullpen looked decent tonight, right?

It's only their first starts.
CC and Wanger will bounce back nicely.
