Mark Bowman cites a Boston television report, saying the Red Sox brass is in Texas speaking to Scott Boras, Mark Teixeira's agent, and that the team could be close to inking the first baseman.
The same report said Boston's offer is eight years for $184 million ($23 million per).
Well...good pitching beats good hitting - hopefully.
"Now, what is this site about, how Joe Torre ruined pitchers' arms? Is that it?"

Well....we have.....Brent Gardner and, and, Nick Swisher. Uh, uh, uh, GET MANNY ON THE PHONE!!!!!
Thoughts on Adam Dunn? He could be a cheaper hitting option. While he strikes out a lot, he still puts up a great OBP and is good for 40 HR.
Adam Dunn would be a great DH since he is not a great outfielder.
Same deal with Manny.

Why is it that only 3 people have brought up Dunn's name? Me, my brother-in-law and you. We also discussed Jim Edmonds for a year in center. Matsui's knees are like old wooden floors....they're creaky and they scare the hell out of me! Between Posada, Matsui, and Damon, I don't know how durable the middle of that lineup is going to be. Gardner and Swisher should be our fillers. If our fillers become starters, well then, when the disabled list is visited by the other three, the Yankees will become like an anorexic 7 ft center.......stretched too thin and brittle!
I've been wondering why there hasn't been more Dunn talk myself. It's tough, however, because the Yankees already have Damon, Nady, Gardner, Melky and Matsui. Obviously, there are only three OF spots and a DH, and it doesn't appear that Matsui can play the OF. Cashman is going to have to get creative.
