Pregame concerns: Matt DeSalvo will pitch on Monday if the game is played tonight. Rain has been threatening all day in Boston. ... Clemens is looking to start on Saturday against Pittsburgh in the Bronx. ... Varitek and Youkilis have both homered off of Pettitte this season, and Youkilis is 4-7 against Pettitte. ... The Yankees have had a lot of trouble scoring in support of Pettitte this season. ... Beckett has been dominant so far this year, but his worst outing of the year was against the Yankees on April 21. ... Doug Mientkiewicz will be out 6-8 weeks (source). ... I will be watching Entourage at 10 tonight. I'm sure it'll be more entertaining than tonight's game. ... We're trying something new here at SPA. The game updates can be seen after clicking "Continue reading" in the blog entry so as not to clutter the main page.

Game updates:

7:41 p.m.:
I'm thrilled we get to listen to Jon Miller and Joe Morgan after listening to Joe Buck and Tim McCarver yesterday. I hate it when the Yankees are on national TV.

8:16 p.m.: Listening to Miller and Morgan, you would think Beckett is God's gift to the earth.

8:27 p.m.: Peter Gammons is still harping on the defective baseball.

8:41 p.m.: Phelps hits an RBI single. 1-0 Yankees.

9:01 p.m.: Great, Jeter is seen limping after fouling a ball off his ankle.

9:18 p.m.: Stop talking about A-Rod's private life!!!

9:37 p.m.: Wow, these clowns really can't get enough of Rodriguez. This broadcast is painful to watch, and the Yankees are winning (for now).

9:47 p.m.: With the bases loaded, Rodriguez hits a chopper to Lowell. He barehands the ball and the throw gets away from Youkilis. Two runs score on the play. 3-0 Yankees.

9:49 p.m.: Posada singles to right, scoring Abreu. 4-0 Yankees.

9:56 p.m.: Entourage time.

10:27 p.m.: Good thing I stopped watching. Pettitte did his best Mike Mussina impression and gave up five runs in the bottom of the fifth. 5-4 Red Sox. Luis Vizcaino is in the game now.

10:40 p.m.: Wow, Posasda actually blocked the plate, preventing a run from scoring. 5-4 Red Sox going to the top of the seventh.

10:47 p.m.: What did Beckett do to deserve leaving to a standing ovation?

10:58 p.m.: Rodriguez has runners on at first and third with a full count. He pops out to Lugo. Ugh.

11:15 p.m.: Top of the eighth...

11:21 p.m.: Rolaids Relief Man of the Year Hideki Okajima has just blown the save. He allowed a single to Matsui and Cano just tripled off of the center field wall. 5-5 now, and the Yankees have a runner on at third and no outs.

11:26 p.m.: Ugh, Phelps struck out and Melky grounds out to third. Cano is still at third base with two outs. Damon is up.

11:28 p.m.: And they can't score. Wow.

11:43 p.m.: Abreu actually made a game-saving catch in right center. 5-5 going to the top of the ninth.

11:54 p.m.: An A-BOMB for A-ROD. Yankees take a 6-5 lead off Papelbon in the ninth.

12:14 a.m.: Mariano Rivera slams the door shut by striking out Lowell. Yankees win 6-5.
