Pregame concerns: Yankees called up INF Chris Basak and LHP Sean Henn and demoted OF Kevin Thompson and RHP Matt DeSalvo. ... Clippard has never faced the White Sox. ... Buehrle is 1-4 with a 6.42 ERA over 6 starts and 33 2-3 innings pitched against the Yankees in his career. ... The game updates can be seen after clicking "Continue reading" in the blog entry so as not to clutter the main page.

Game updates:

9:01 p.m.: The Yankees have grounded into three double plays.

9:08 p.m.: On a ground ball to Jeter, Dye advances to second, and then takes third because no one was covering. Here we go again. Runner at third, one out.

9:14 p.m.: Mackowiak hits an RBI single. 1-0 White Sox going to the top of the fifth.

9:20 p.m.: Cano has been very hot lately. Abreu and he are finally starting to hit. Too bad Jeter is slumping.

9:23 p.m.: Oh wow, Cairo hits a clutch two-out RBI single to tie the game.

9:43 p.m.: After a Damon leadoff double, Jeter bunted for a single. Abreu hits an RBI single, and Jeter goes to third. 2-1 Yankees, runners at first and third, no out. By the way, I love the booth with Paul O'Neill and Joe Girardi, even though Michael Kay is still there.

9:48 p.m.: Rodriguez doubles to center, scoring Jeter. 3-1 Yankees. Posada hits a sacrifice fly to right field. Dye almost threw Abreu out. 4-1 now.

9:50 p.m.: Matsui singles home Rodriguez. An offensive explosion!

9:56 p.m.: Joe "Quick Hook" Torre has taken out Clippard. Scott Proctor is in now. Bottom of the sixth, 5-1 Yankees.

9:58 p.m.: Cairo is having a great game at first base tonight. I say, keep starting him. He can't be as bad as Phelps at the plate, and he's already proving himself worthy in the field.

10:04 p.m.: Damon has three hits tonight, and Jeter has two. The Yankees have second and third with one out in the top of the seventh.

10:06 p.m.: Damon was caught in a rundown between third and home. Great. Rodriguez hits an opposite bloop for a single, scoring Jeter. 6-1.

10:43 p.m.: Kyle Farnsworth has loaded the bases with one out in the eighth. He's a loser.

10:49 p.m.: He gets out of it only allowing one run. Going to the top of the ninth, 6-2 Yankees.

10:56 p.m.: Rodriguez just hit a ball more than half-way up the bleachers at U.S. Cellular. 7-2 Yankees.

11:12 p.m.: Brian Bruney loads the bases with one out, and now Mariano Rivera has to come in.

11:19 p.m.: Rivera closes the door, giving up a sacrifice fly in the process. Yankees win 7-3.
