"Now, what is this site about, how Joe Torre ruined pitchers' arms? Is that it?"

It was bound to happen

No matter how good you are, walks will kill you. Joba Chamberlain learned that lesson tonight, as he gave up the go-ahead three-run home run in the eighth inning. The three runs were the first he's allowed at Yankee Stadium in his career.

He walked two batters in the ninth inning before allowing the pinch-hit home run to ex-Yankee David Dellucci.

I wasn't around to watch the game, but I'm sure Chamberlain was devastated. However, it's a long season, and bad outings will creep in there on occasion. How he deals with adversity will determine whether he will continue to succeed or not.

Meanwhile, Ian Kennedy started for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre tonight. Facing the Charlotte Knights, Kennedy went 7 1-3 innings, allowing one hit and zero earned runs and taking a perfect game into the sixth inning. He struck out eight and walked none while throwing 90 pitches for 58 strikes. This is an obvious confidence booster for the right-hander. Hopefully he can continue to better prepare himself for his eventual return to New York.

Mr. Fletch often has more important things to do with his time.

Such as driving in Cadillacs, using astronaut pens, and milling around Del Boca Vista.

Yeah, I'm finishing up next week, but I'll be spending some time in Scranton to do some work for Pinstripes Plus.
