Standing ovation for Griffey?

In what could have been Ken Griffey Jr's last at-bat at Yankee Stadium, he hit a home run and proceeded to get a standing ovation.

Why?

After what he said about playing in his last few games at Yankee Stadium, he should have been booed mercilessly. I don't care about how great of a player Griffey was.

These are the same people who boo Alex Rodriguez, so I really shouldn't expect too much from them in the intelligence department.

I hope Griffey gets traded to the American League and plays more games at Yankee Stadium, just to make these people look stupider.

I think you meant the American League...also, standing and giving Griffey a standing ovation was the classy thing to do. A big part of sports is showing respect for your opponent, and it's obvious the MOST Yankee fans know how to display proper etiquette. Plus, I think you are being a little sensitive about what Griffey said...

He didn't show respect to New York and Yankee Stadium.

They wouldn't have given anyone a standing ovation after a home run. They did it because it was Griffey who hit it, and he didn't deserve it.

When the Yankees are looking at trying to avoid a sweep, I shouldn't have to care about showing respect to the opponent or showing proper etiquette.

If anyones being too sensitive its Griffey. He's still holding a grudge from when he was young against Billy Martin and the Yankees rules at the time. He needs to get over it.

I agree. It's Griffey's problem, but the fans shouldn't of given him a standing O. I don't care how dumb they are.

I just noticed that there are three Andrews. That's not confusing...
