Rosenthal: $91 million offer to Burnett [Updated]

Update - Thursday, 12:05 a.m.: For some reason, Rosenthal took down the mention of the five-year, $91 million in his update. He changed it to say only that the Yankees have offered a fifth year.

OK, this is getting absurd. Ken Rosenthal is reporting that the Yankees have increased their offer to A.J. Burnett to five years, $91 million.

That works out to $18.2 million per year, for someone who's only pitched over 200 innings three times in 10 years. Ay.

It was in one of Rosenthal's updates, but it's not there anymore for some reason. Hmmmm...

I anxiously await the update in your headline...

Just updated. Sorry for the confusion...I'm confused myself.

I sincerely hope that in the same way the picture of CC in Pinstripes didn't jinx his deal, that your picture of Apple Jacks jinxes it all to hell. I have always supported Ca$h, through Brown and Johnson and Igawa and even Pavano - but knowing full well this punk has been to the DL 10 times in 10 years and has only pitched moderately well in his walk years, it is borderline treason to sign him as though he's proven himself as a top line starter.

On a brighter note, thank you Andrew for your dedicated effort. Of all the blogs I follow, you have been by far the most active and comprehensive through this enthralling time. Keep up the good work!

I can't see the results in the poll. Too blue!!

I know they're too blue. I've tried fixing it, but there is no option to change the colors. :(

Thank you for the kind words, previous Anonymous. I've done what I can, and doing this has been a nice excuse to follow what the other teams are doing.

I agree that signing Burnett would definitely leave a bad taste in my mouth, regarding Cashman, after how happy he made us yesterday.
