Dan Giese, who was designated for assignment by the Yankees coming out of camp, was claimed by the Oakland A's this afternoon.
Giese, 31, was 1-3 with a 3.53 ERA in 43 1/3 innings for the Yankees last season.
He was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento.
