Welcome back, Wang

Chien-Ming Wang will be making his first start since injuring his foot in Houston last June 15.

Wang was struggling a bit in May and early June, but seemed to maybe have turned his season around against Oakland five days before.

In four starts from May 18 to June 5, Wang was 0-1 with an 8.75 ERA in 23 2/3 innings pitched. While the team was 3-1 in these four starts, seeing Wang struggle with his command (14 walks to 11 strikeouts) was a major concern.

He righted the ship against Oakland, pitching 7 1/3 innings and allowing only one run.

Then he had to reach base on a fielder's choice in Houston.

One could argue that the Yankees don't miss the playoffs if Wang stays healthy.  But that's baseball.

Welcome back.
