Boston Red Sox outfielder Manny Ramirez was out of the lineup Sunday against Detroit Tigers because of a stomach ailment, but was used as a pinch hitter in the eighth inning after the Tigers gave him antibiotics. This is right up there right Roger Clemens' "fatigued groin."
The All-Star struck out looking on a low pitch with one on and one out, and Detroit held off the rallying Red Sox for a sweep-completing 6-5 win.
Boston manager Terry Francona said Ramirez was weakened by "intestinal turmoil," and added that the 11-time All-Star would travel to San Francisco for Tuesday's showcase game and was expected to play.Ramirez, one of six Red Sox players bound for the Bay Area, is hitting .284 with 11 homers and 45 RBIs (source).
"Now, what is this site about, how Joe Torre ruined pitchers' arms? Is that it?"
