Boston won their game tonight, mathematically eliminating the Yankees from playoff contention for the first time since the Yankees won the wild-card in 1995.
Oh what a ride it's been.
"Now, what is this site about, how Joe Torre ruined pitchers' arms? Is that it?"

It seems ironic their playoff run began and ended with the Jays.
I still remember watching the game on TV where the Yankees clinched the first ever wildcard spot and a playoff berth in 1995. Mattingly was so happy when the final out was made. Going to the playoffs after a 14 year wait seemed too long a wait! When they won it in 1996, I had waited nearly 20 years for the privilege!
Most of the talk on sports stations like WFAN seem to point out that "most" Yankees fans only are familiar with the Torre era. For others like myself, I can't say that I've been spoiled with them making it so many years in a row. I had to put up with those lean years of the '80s when they never came close.
I'll look at this year as just a sabbatical and that they'll be back en force next season.
