"Now, what is this site about, how Joe Torre ruined pitchers' arms? Is that it?"

Sunday reading addendum: Dan Graziano

Dan Graziano has been an independent blogger since taking a buyout from The Star-Ledger at the end of 2008. Today, he wrote about Alex Rodriguez. I agree with every word, and hopefully you will too.

So when you're done reading Jane's tarot piece, please read, and support, Dan.

Sunday reading: Yankee tarot reading

Friend of Scott Proctor's Arm Jane Heller recently went to a tarot card reading with Patricia Diorio and asked questions concerning the New York Yankees.

She wrote about what transpired in The New York Times. You can read the whole thing here.

Some of what Patricia reads is very encouraging.

Snow day links

I have a couple of fun links to post while those in the New York area are snowed in.

First, from the Serious Sports News Network, we have "Pavano to Yankees: 'Be careful with long-term, high-dollar for generally-unproven, injury-prone free agent pitchers." This site is pretty hilarious, so check out some of the other stuff they have going on.

Also, I received this quiz from JetPunk.com in my e-mail last night. You have three minutes to name all of the 30 Major League teams. It's harder than you think. And be careful because the clock starts right after the page loads.

Off-topic link

My good friend Jeremy Schilling (two L's) asked me to guest blog on his blog, J Schil's Blog (one L). I happily obliged.

Needing an idea, I asked another good friend of mine, Andrew Vazzano (two Z's) of The 'Ropolitans (no Metro). Having already written about how he hates tomatoes, he suggested writing about how much I hate headphones. Enjoy.

During the course of the school year, I will post my articles from The Quinnipiac Chronicle as well. Hopefully they won't be as ridiculous and nonsensical as what I wrote for Jeremy was.

The Blogosphere is not polluted

Since my last links post way back on June 14, I've added some more Yankees blogs to the blogroll on your right-hand side of the page. It is always great to read different people's takes on the Yankees to get more diverse views on the team. As a result, the following blogs are all highly recommended by me.

One of the newer sites is The Bronx Block, a site to which I contribute. The readership is much larger and some of my columns have gotten upwards of 30 comments. Some have been favorable, and others...well, not so much.

Pinstripes PA is a blog that covers both the New York Yankees and the AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees. Dan, the author, also works for Pinstripes Plus, so he gets to go into the S/WB clubhouse from time-to-time. I highly recommend his blog.

The Replacement Level Yankees Weblog is a very popular Yankees blog. Their liveblogs of games usually get many comments and the stats they come up with are informative. They also gave a plug to my blog (as well as Dan's) this morning, which is greatly appreciated.

River Ave. Blues is an extremely informative Yankees blog. A large part of their writing focuses on the Yankees' farm teams and it can help the casual fan learn more about the talent that is on the rise.

The True Yankee Blog is another informative Yankees blog. Nick shares his opinions on all things Yankees baseball and does a very good job too.

Yankees Tonight is a blog written by a guy I post with at The Yankee Zone.

That's it for now. As always, if you have a blog that you would like to be mentioned and placed in the blogroll, you can email me at drew788@gmail.com or leave a comment in this post. I am always looking for more opinions to read.

The Blogosphere is not polluted

If you've noticed, I have reorganized the links on the right. They are now divided into three groups: Yankees Sites and Blogs, General Baseball Links, and Other Blogs.

161st & River, My Pinstripes, and the Best Damn Sports Blog are all written by guys I post with at The Yankee Zone, and I highly recommend them all.

NoMaas is a funny Yankee blog. They do great Photoshops.

The LoHud Yankees Blog by The Journal News beat writer Peter Abraham, Was Watching and YanksBlog are all very informative.

All of the links under "General Baseball Links" are extremely useful. I use The Baseball Cube and Minor League Baseball when I want to check up on past and current minor league players, respectively. Cot's Baseball Contracts and Baseball Reference are great resources as well. Retrosheet allows you to look up old boxscores, which is very fascinating.

The 'Ropolitans is a Mets blog run by my friend Andrew from school. Ballhype gives readers a chance to "hype up" stories that they like from various blogs. This is SPA's specific link on Ballhype. If you like a story of mine, just click the up arrow.

Deadspin is the best sports blog out there. I religiously read it everyday.

If you want to link your site, just email me at drew788@gmail.com or leave a comment on this post. I'll be happy to add your site. We don't discriminate at SPA.

Was Watching

Steve over at Was Watching was kind enough to post the link to SPA on his blog the other day (and I didn't even ask!).

I really do appreciate gestures like this. I started this mom and pop operation here (without the mom, or the pop for that matter, but you get the point) a little over two weeks ago, and any kind of attention SPA can get is going to be good for business. It's also going to be good for everybody.

That being said, if anyone has other Yankee blogs (other teams/concepts accepted too), I would be more than happy to exchange links and put up your blog under "Links" on the right side. Just shoot me an email or leave a comment here!
